Work Site 2 Weeks ago

8th of June on a Thursday i was able to go on site by showing up at school as usual instead of 6-7 in the AM, I managed to catch a ride with the bros mum Whaea Simone and some of the gateway people, site that day was pretty cruisy i was hoping to work along side Jesse because i had a turn on the scissor lift inside of the large clubhouse building, I helped him lift up this large piece of timber in side of the club house and nail it in to the side of the ceiling.

After working with Jesse for a little bit Beauden came in and asked me to come and help him with some of these cavity battens out side, but before we did the battens we used the table saw to cut like 5 mm off the back of said battens so they sit flush with the top of the windows, i agreed to use the nail gun but after a long time Beauden was using the nail gun it started deteriorating and wouldn't shoot the nails out correctly, jams began to occur and Beauden wasn't too happy about that but we still kept nailing the battens, I asked him if we can use a different nail gun because it was so annoying and frustrating, I walked to where Tawio was working and asked the workers if there was a spare nail gun to use, one of the carpenters told me there was a spare in the truck, i grabbed it and walked back to Beauden so we can finish this job and move on to the next one.

Building Academy

One of the best thing i've done last week was helping my team align the post and then drilling the screws in to the wood bracing to hold the post together to allow the concrete to circulate around the post causing it to maintain a strong and sturdy foundation, after we finished with the post (which we already did) where actually pour the concrete in and hopefully it goes to plan.

Bay Of Islands College Building Academy

Kia ora whanau my name is David and i joined the building academy at Bay Of Islands College and i'm enjoying it so far.

In term 3 last year I joined the building academy because I was first choice on the waiting list, and its been a good year for me, I've learnt a lot and gain heaps of knowledge about building and techniques.

The reason why I joined the building academy is I've always wanted to become a carpenter and just build stuff and make money for something I like doing, and the building academy was able to help me fufill this dream of becoming a carpenter.
